Game FAQ about Guild Wars 2 - Game Guide

When is Guild Wars 2 likely to be released?
When it is finished. Guild Wars 2 may be the largest project ArenaNet® has ever undertaken, and we need to make sure we take the time to do it right.
Game FAQ about Guild Wars 2 - Game Guide

When maybe there is a beta?
We will be conducting small closed alpha and beta tests in 2011. The feedback from all of these tests determines when we is going to do public beta tests and ship the sport. Guild Wars 2 is an extremely large and ambitious game, and Guild Wars players rightfully have high expectations. We want players to be absolutely blown away by the game the first time they experience it.

What platforms will Guild Wars 2 be available on?
Guild Wars 2 is being produced for laptop computer.

Will there be a subscription fee for Guild Wars 2?
Nope. Like the original Guild Wars, there will be no subscription fee for Guild Wars 2. You just buy the game and listen to it online without having to pay a fee every month.

Will Guild Wars 2 be an MMO?
Yes. Guild Wars 2 supplies a massive, online persistent world.

How is Guild Wars 2 not the same as other MMOs?
At ArenaNet, we now have one mission: to create Guild Wars 2 the very best MMORPG ever. To understand how we plan to do this, check out Studio Head MIKE O'Brien's Design Manifesto article and our MMO Manifesto video!

Will Guild Wars 2 have non-human playable races?
Absolutely! Along with humans, players can create, customize, and play a variety of non-human races.
  • Charr - Ascalon's conquerors, the charr are ferocious, warmongering creatures--the intractable foes of humanity. Now, as greater dangers threaten their conquests, charr legions as well as their war machines prepare for battle.
  • Norn - The norn are towering brawlers from the frigid northern lands who are able to shape-shift into mighty bestial forms. Driven using their homeland by a force beyond reckoning, the norn have regrouped among the dwarven ruins from the Shiverpeaks.
  • Asura - The asura, who once ruled the caverns and tunnels below Tyria, are a professional race of small size and great intellect. Since they have risen from below, the asura aim to rule the surface world with their powerful golems and ingenious plans.
  • Sylvari - Not much is famous from the sylvari, save that they are a race of sentient plant-beings, newly blossomed in to the world. The sylvari are the youngest of the races, bound together with a common dream and awesome power.
How many professions does Guild Wars 2 have?
Guild Wars 2 may have eight professions with very distinct play-styles and skills. We have currently announced the elementalist, the warrior, the ranger, the necromancer, the guardian, and also the thief, and we'll still unveil new professions in the coming months.

How will character progression work? Are you raising the amount cap?
Guild Wars 2 may have the type of extensive character advancement appropriate to a persistent-world RPG. Our goal would be to avoid forcing players in to the grind-based gameplay this too often accompanies a high level cap.

Also, to allow players the liberty to play together even if their friends are in a much higher (or lower) level, we're likely to implement a strong sidekick system, much like that used in Town of Heroes™.

We're employing this same philosophy to competitive play. Players will be able to engage in organized, balanced PvP (much like GvG in the original Guild Wars) without first leveling up characters, finding equipment, and unlocking skills. While inside the organized PvP area, all characters would be the same power level and will have access to the same equipment.

Will Guild Wars 2 be solo-able?
Yes. You will be able to succeed your character to the maximum level without ever joining an organization if you so desire. Most content will be designed in a solo-friendly way, though often with mechanisms for scaling up in difficulty when more players are participating. This will give players the choice to see the game however they prefer.

At the same time, it is important for an MMO community to join together to beat challenges. Guild Wars 2 will feature challenges that require players to become listed on forces.

Can I play my original Guild Wars character in Guild Wars 2?
Guild Wars 2 is a whole new game with various professions and races, new technology, and expanded gameplay. It's not possible to directly use an original Guild Wars character.

However, your original Guild Wars character names will be reserved for your use within Guild Wars 2. The Hall of Monuments in Guild Wars 2 recognizes the accomplishments commemorated because of your original Guild Wars characters and offers you with unique rewards to showcase those achievements.

What benefits does the Hall of Monuments provide to Guild Wars 2 characters?
The achievements and honors accumulated by all of the characters in your Guild Wars account are commemorated within the Hall of Monuments, that is only accessible in Guild Wars: Eye from the North. The monuments within the Hall count points you can use to provide your Guild Wars 2 characters with exclusive titles, items, mini-pets, and animal companions. Use the Hall of Monuments Reward Calculator to determine what rewards you've unlocked, and discover what other pursuits is going to be available when Guild Wars 2 launches.

Do you know the system requirements for Guild Wars 2?
The system requirements weren't finalized, and using the original Guild Wars series, we're devoted to developing a beautiful game that will play great on mid-range gaming PCs.

It looks like the charr have guns in the Guild Wars 2 trailer. Will there be firearms in Guild Wars 2?
Since Guild Wars 2 happens 250 years in the future from Guild Wars, we wanted to introduce new technology to Tyria. In the mystical tech of the asura to the industrial war machines of the charr, Guild Wars 2 unmistakably takes place in a different era compared to original game, and also the weaponry and machinery reflect that. Firearms will certainly be part of the equation - however with a unique twist.

The aquatic scenes within the preview video look really cool. Will players have the ability to explore underwater?
Absolutely! We want to make underwater exploration simple and easy , exciting for players and eliminate some of the traditional limitations (i.e., drowning) to aquatic travel found in many games. The underwater zones open up exciting new possibilities and greatly expand the explorable areas in Guild Wars 2.

There are a total of 8 different character classes obtainable in Runes of Magic. These are: Warrior, Scout, Rogue, Mage, Priest, Knight, Druid and Warden. The character race you decide to play will determine which 8 of these classes you can get when designing your character, however the classes change based on your unique race. For example, Humans are not permitted to play like a Warden or Druid, whereas Elves cannot play like a Knight or Priest.
Each class separates two distinct set of skills: General and Primary.

General skills of the particular class can be used once the class equipped may be the Main or Secondary Class. Primary skills of a class can only be utilized when the class is equipped as the Main Class, but is not available when equipped because the Secondary Class.
Runes of Magic Knight

Knight: Knights would be the heaviest armored class hanging around; the only one able to wear plate armor. Using their special light-based attacks and shield abilities, knights fight their enemies effectively and draw their hatred over themselves.
Runes of Magic Warrior

Warrior: Warriors are masters within the use of arms, and can handle every close combat weapon whilst being able to wear all kinds of armors, including chain mail. Driven by their battle rage they attack the enemy with special combinations of strikes and blows, and try to increase the momentum of the attacks. They are able to also channel their rage into passive abilities to bolster themselves in order to provoke opponents and also to scare them with an impressive display of their fury.
Runes of Magic Rogue

Rogue: Rogues are specialists in inflicting physical damage. In close range they will use dagger techniques, and employ ranged weapons for very long range attacks. As opposed to warriors and scouts, rogues depend on subtle methods, such as stealth attacks, poison, as well as other techniques which inflict bleeding wounds. Rogues manage to avoid most trouble because of their swiftness and agility.
Runes of Magic Scouts

Scout: Scouts are masters in long range combat, and use their abilities to create their bow and crossbow skills to perfection. In close combat they rely on evasion and delaying tactics to get into range for an additional shot or to watch for reinforcements who feel more at home in close range combat. Specially boosted long range attacks can defeat opponents in a short amount of time.
Runes of Magic Priest

Priest: While priests can defend, restore hit points and increase stats of the companions, they likewise have the power to bring their fallen comrades back again. They are able to wield shields; and only they have a chance to make use of the element of water to manage magical damage. However, their most significant role remains calling out for godly assistance and mending wounds during battle.
Runes of Magic Druid

Druid: As a result of close connection with nature, Druids are able to use their powers to fulfill their very own wishes. Through them one more resource has applied for Runes of Magic: Nature's Power. Through special skills, Druids build up more and more of Nature's Power and can release it in a given time to do especially powerful spells. However, it is their diversity which makes Druids stand out. They're powerful healers, who support the group's priests with rapid healing spells.
Runes of Magic Mage

Mage: Magicians attack with fire and lightning and inflict astronomical magical damage. Some of their spells can enclose wide-ranging areas with fiery walls and whole hordes of monsters in check, although utility is eliminated endgame. Seasoned magicians have been demonstrated so that you can harness the strength of the Phoenix. With the help of their arcane knowledge, they can protect themselves as well as their companions from harm, or increase the strength from the entire party.
Runes of Magic Warden

Warden: The Warden has the most diverse variety of weapons at his disposal and it is masterful within their use. The ability to wear chain armour also affords him the necessary protection to emerge victorious from battle. He is also able to use a collection of varied magical abilities. They serve mainly to weaken a rival and to strengthen themselves. His true strengths are played out, however, in conjunction with one of his three faithful companions whom he can command in combat. The companion is able to increase against several enemies, keeping these occupied while the Warden himself swiftly and effortlessly subjugates his target.

Each avatar have five statistics: Strength, Dexterity, Stamina, Intelligence and Wisdom. The base values are determined by the primary class. If your second class is selected, an additional 10% of the base values of the secondary class are added to the primary class statistics. The values from the statistic are based on the amount of each respective class.
In general:

Strength - Raises physical attack power
Dexterity - Raises accuracy and dodge
Stamina - Raises defense, health, and health regeneration
Intelligence - Raises magical attack power and mana
Wisdom - Raises magical defense, mana, and mana regeneration

Along with acquiring weapons, armor, and accessories for each avatar, the player could also enchant additional statistics into the equipment improving health, mana, defense, physical attack, magical attack, and other attributes. These enhancing statistics are commonly referred to as a "stat." Stats might have 1 or more attributes. For example, "Frost of Imprisonment VIII" has 2 attributes: Stamina +57 and Wisdom +57, while "Vigor I" only has 1 attribute: Strength +3. The color of the stat determines the number of attributes are improved.

Types of Stats
Green: One enhancing statistic
Yellow: Two enhancing statistics
Orange: Three enhancing statistics

As well as the color from the stat, each stat has a corresponding tier, which determines the value of the stat, so that a tier 1 stat, Strength I, increases Strength by 3, while a tier 2 stat, Strength II, increases Strength by 6.

In higher tier stats, the need for the statistic is determined by name from the stat. For instance, a stat with the word, "Imprisonment," within the name boosts the value of the specific stat by 57, whereas, the term "Temple" would denote a rise of 76. As well as the five main statistics, stats may also increase an attribute, for example defense, physical attack, magical attack, and health points directly.

As much as six differently named stats can be put into a piece of content of equipment.
In addition to stats, each equipment could also hold runes, that also increase features of the avatar. Some pieces may have rune slots when found, but to have 4, the maximum possible, the player must purchase a "Driller" to create additional slots for runes.

Battlestar Galactica (also known as BSG or Battlestar) is definitely an American military science fiction television series, and area of the Battlestar Galactica franchise. The show was developed by Ronald D. Moore like a re-imagining of the 1978 Battlestar Galactica television series created by Glen A. Larson. The series first aired like a three-hour miniseries (comprising four broadcast hours) in December 2003 on the Sci-Fi Channel, and ran for four seasons thereafter, ending its run on March 20, 2009. The series featured Edward James Olmos and Mary McDonnell, and garnered a wide range of critical acclaim, including a Peabody Award and the Television Critics Association's Program of the Year Award, as well as Emmy nominations for its writing and directing.

The storyline arc of Battlestar Galactica is placed inside a distant star system, where a civilization of humans survive a number of planets referred to as Twelve Colonies. In the past, the Colonies had been at war having a cybernetic race that belongs to them creation, referred to as Cylons. With the unwitting help of an individual named Gaius Baltar, the Cylons launch a sudden sneak attack on the Colonies, laying waste towards the planets and devastating their populations. Out of a population numbering within the billions, only approximately 50,000 humans survive, the majority of whom were aboard civilian ships that avoided destruction. Of all the Colonial Fleet, the eponymous Battlestar Galactica appears to be the only real military capital ship that survived the attack. Under the leadership of Colonial Fleet officer Commander William "Bill" Adama (Olmos) and President Laura Roslin (McDonnell), the Galactica and its crew occupy the task of leading the little fugitive fleet of survivors into space looking for a fabled refuge referred to as Earth.

The initial series inspired a Battlestar Galactica game. The sport is set during a training mission, where 2 to 4 players maneuver pieces representing Colonial Vipers in order to capture a damaged Cylon Raider. Play includes using terrain elements and a quantity of special-ability cards towards the players' advantage.

In 1978, Mattel Electronics released a handheld electronic LED game in line with the series. The ball player tries to defend Galactica from kamikaze Cylon Raiders by manipulating a turn on the game unit to direct your fire, that was activated by a red button to the left of the unit.

In 1979, FASA released a tabletop counter piece game for Battlestar Galactica in line with the fighter combat, which included the Galactica and a Cylon Basestar to become launched from, attack with and become attacked/defended. The counters for that Vipers and the Raiders included three model versions MKI/MKII/MKIII not only the MKII Viper and Raider MKI.

In November 2003, shortly prior to the premiere of the re-imagined TV series, Sierra released a 3D space combat Battlestar Galatica video game for that original Xbox, PlayStation 2, and for PC. The game happened 4 decades before the original series and featured an ensign Adama flying a Viper throughout the Cylon war. The game was developed by Warthog.
Wiz Kids, Inc. (a collectible game manufacturer) produced the Battlestar Galactica Collectable
Card Game in line with the 2003 mini-series and 2004 TV show. The premier set of farmville was released in May 2006. After the release of one expansion set, Wizkids announced the game's cancellation on March 13, 2007.

A Battlestar Galactica role playing game was launched in August 2007 by Margaret Weis Productions at Gen Con.

Fantasy Flight Games has produced Battlestar Galactica: The Game, in line with the 2003 re-imagined series. It's a semi-cooperative bet on technique for 3-6 players with some players being Cylon agents, either aware at start of game or become aware later, as Sleeper agents. Each one of the 10 playable character has their own abilities and weaknesses, and should all work together in order for humanity to outlive, in addition to make an effort to expose the traitor while fuel shortages, food contaminations, and political unrest threatens to tear the fleet apart. In June 2009, a "Pegasus expansion" to the board game was announced, adding seven new characters, and extra gameboards representing Battlestar Pegasus and New Caprica. An additional expansion, Exodus was announced in October 2010.

There is also a Xbox 360 console Live Arcade title called Battlestar Galactica that is 2D anyway where you can co-op or dogfight with as many as 8 people over Xbox Live.

Battlestar Galactica On the internet is a 3D browser-based MMOG released being an open beta last month 8, 2011 by Bigpoint Games.
